Glossary Terms K-L
Used in the Compression, Lamination and Transfer Molding Process

LATEX:

Milky white juice from rubber tree. Also-colloidal system of minute rubber particles suspended in water.

LIQUID INJECTION MOLDING:

A process for forming objects, as of plastic, rubber or metal, by heating the molding material to a fluid state and injecting it at high pressure into a mold, which is the inverse of the desired shape.

LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM:

A press function to allow it to operate continuously under 10% of its maximum rated force, as well as to ensure a preheat function at reduced pressure.

LPMC:

Low Pressure Molding Compound - Composite material designed to be molded at reduced clamp pressures.
